superkorra:

“Really now?” What was it like to just take a little stroll in one cold evening and get hit where it hurt most by some stranger? It didn’t necessarily have to be exactly like that, but that’s the gist of it. “Well, don’t sweat it. And I guess I can say that’s it’s gonna be alright for you. Fighting doesn’t seem to be a thing here.” Hearing him say that she was nice made her a smile a bit. Korra didn’t hear that everyday.

The Avatar estimated the population as of that moment wouldn’t go over a hundred. There may be a least sixty others, and there may not be as much under Ares.

Korra was new to hanging out with shy people like Mako??  since, it would be hard to know what they want to do. Like, say, Livio here. The weather was getting pretty warm, so…

“I can’t be too sure about the number of people here, but I get the feeling that it’s not that much,” she sighed and realized that she wanted to take a breather. Enter the idea of going swimming! What better to do on a hot, lazy day?

“Ugh, it’s so hot. I’ll search for a cool lake or something. Taking a dip sounds good right now; wanna come with?”

It doesn’t? Somehow, Livio had a hard time believing that, though it was purely for the fact that he fought his entire life. No matter where he went, he always had to fight, so this new ‘peaceful’ place was something almost unheard of for the ex-gung-ho gun. It would take some getting used to, that was for sure.

And likewise, Livio wasn’t exactly used to being with such outgoing people. Being secluded from others for so many years and being forced to off others would do that to a person. Though, he liked Korra’s rather domestic personality, purely because it meant he wouldn’t be forced to say a lot. It wasn’t as if he didn’t want to talk, it was just he never really had much to say.

“… Swimmin’?” he echoed, shock on his face. The weather hadn’t exactly bothered him since he was here, since the climate was rather similar to where he came from, but swimming… Livio actually had never swam anywhere in his life. On his planet, water was very scarce in large amounts, so swimming was never a possibility.

“Er, well… I can’t… Exactly swim, y’see. I’ve never swam a day in my life…” he sheepishly admitted, pulling his hat down over his eyes again. “But uh… I wouldn’t mind washin’ my face of all this dirt, if you don’t mind,”

superkorra:

Gods weren’t a thing in the United Republic, so maybe even everyone in the Southern Water Tribe hasn’t heard of it. It all sounded nice to learn about them, but she feared that there was more to these gods that meets the eye. It didn’t sound good either. Korra was game for these trials though, being the competitive girl that she was.

“Hmm…I guess I can agree with you. Fighting people without a reasonable cause is just isn’t my thing. Well— our thing.”

She smiled back when Livio finally showed a bit of his face. “Nice to meet’cha then! And hey, you don’t need to cover your face around me. I’m not gonna hurt you or anything.”

Livio let out a sigh of relief as soon as he heard the girl agree. It was nice to hear that someone shared the same sentiment with him, though he had to wonder; how many more people were here? By the looks of this bare area alone, he had to guess that there probably wasn’t too many people in this place, though, he was purely guessing by this area alone…

“Ah, does it seem that way?” Livio asked, genuinely surprised. Of course, the poor man didn’t mean to; he had always been a bit awkward with talking at first and as a result, he avoided eye contact with others, even looking away from them or pulling down his hat to hide his shy nature.

“Sorry about that… But I’m glad I met a nice girl like you in a place like this. There’s been too many times where everyone wants to fight right off the bat, heh,” he smiled as his eyebrows knitted together.

“How many other people are in this place, I wonder…”

superkorra:

Korra didn’t exactly know what she was doing either, since it wasn’t really Airbending. And a picture of Lin Bei Fong would just make Korra shoot a blast of flame again. No use in that.

“Heh, gladly,” she cleared her throat. “First off, I haven’t heard of Ares until now, but people around say that we’re supposed to undergo trials or something of the like to honor him. Well— I’m not sure of what those trials are, but let’s hope it isn’t anything like starving us to death.” That would be plain cruel.

“By the way, just call me Korra. You are?”

She hadn’t heard of this ‘god’, either? Somehow, the fact comforted Livio, probably because now he didn’t feel so alone in terms of knowledge of these ‘gods’. However, the trials part made Livio’s stomach churn with uneasiness. What sort of trials? Livio had been a member of the Eye of Micheal and the Gung-Ho Guns long enough to know that trials were never exactly a good thing, especially if it was in the name of god.

“Trials, huh…” he mumbled, adjusting his hat again. Could this girl fight? The trials might not just be about fighting, per se, but things like these always brought out the worst in people…

“I just hope there won’t be any fighting,” a false hope, since he already had an odd feeling that fighting in this godforsaken place would be inevitable.

“Korra? Nice to meet you. You can call me Livio,” he warmly smiled at the female, tipping his hat upwards to better show his face.

superkorra:

Korra had just woken up from an improptu nap and sadly, this whole situation wasn’t a dream; a nightmare, rather—

“Airbend!”

With the loads of spare time she had, Korra decided to train with a high chance of no success. She decided to try her own version once again, though Tenzin’s version was the one she was to follow. She needed to learn quick and she can’t just sit around meditating!

As she groaned in frustration, her ears perked up at the sound of someone approaching. She turned and…hmm, strange-looking guy.

“Hey there. And I guess I’ll try, no guarantee of correct answers!”

… What the heck was this girl trying to do? Something about the air? Livio wasn’t quite sure, but then again, he didn’t really want to find out. Regardless, he tipped his hat to the woman in an attempt to be polite.

“Er… I was wonderin’ why exactly I’m here,” he began, his voice as deep as ever. “In fact, I’ve never heard of this god ‘Ares’… Why did he call me here?” he paused for a moment, then his eyes went wide, a faint blush creeping onto his cheeks.

“O-Of course, if you know, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share any info you have on this place… M’am,”

The dry land reminded Livio a lot of back home. Perhaps that was why he didn’t feel the need to be frightened… Yet, anyway.

All he knew was this place was called Cyprorcaea, and he had been ‘chosen’ by one of the gods, Ares. Of course, he thought this was a load of bullshit. Gods? Maybe at one point in time, he did believe in a ‘god’, but he never believed any sort of celestial beings exited. True, there may be aliens with abilities that seemed godly, but an actual god? He wouldn’t believe it.

He couldn’t.

With a sigh, the rather tough-looking man adjusted his hat, and started to explore this place. He needed to find someone that knew something about this place… About how he could maybe go home. Dry clumps of dirt crunched under his boots, making an audible enough noise to alert the person who he was approaching.

“Er… ‘Scuse me…” he gruffly said, hiding his eyes with his hat; geez, he was so shy when talking to strangers sometimes! “I got a few questions… I was wonderin’ if you could answer some of ‘em?”
